Certainly one of my favorite builds on stage at the EICMA show in Milan last week was the V.A.D.’s BMW “Finale Mille”. This bike is based on a 1985 BMW K100 RS, purchased in Finale Emilia in perfect working conditions. Read the rest!

Changes and modifications made on the bike by V.A.D. mainly concern the rearend of the frame, narrowed and made parallel to the asphalt . In addition, the the forks have been shortened by 80mm to give the bike a flatter line and rigidity of the shock absorbers . As for the look, the original fairing has been entirely removed and a new custom tank, seat and tail has been handmade as a single monocoque. Clip-on’s have been added with the handles covered by genuine leather and a new a fairing has been built, following the style of the endurance bikes from the 80s. The rich stock instruments have been removed to make room for a minimal and spartan cockpit with only three buttons: on, off and lights. The stock alloy wheels have been maintained and repainted black and while the the rays have been brushed. The front light is and old style after-market recycled piece. It was mounted on the left side of the bike with a handmade bracket. Mechanical work was limited to the exhausts, changed into a 4-in-1 with chrome small size muffler, and to the removal of the original airbox, replaced with a more powerful BMC air filter. As usual for V.A.D., all changes involved the use of recycled sheet metal, recovered from old industrial drums, preserving its original graphics and memory.
