Federico Baldacchino, the man behind the brand Aniba, introduced his 22nd build last Thursday in Milan and I have been bound to the secret until now.
The funny thing is that the owner of this Yamaha XJR1200 was born on the 22nd and he wanted the number 22 on the side panels of the bike. It’s the typical kind of customization that a rider of an oldish fully functional Jap likes: simple and elegant, without excess. Shortened subframe, shortened exhaust, good sound and comfortable riding position are mandatory. Even the complete instrumentation with its classic look is worth to be saved. In this case, it was hidden by a custom fibreglass flyscreen. In many ways, this build reminds me the very first changes made to my Inazuma. The wide custom seat is upholstered by dark grey Alcantara (synthetic suede) and was shaped to match the lines of the stock tank, which is, to me, still the best version designed for this bike. The colour scheme is unusual, at least for this kind of bike, but I think is a perfect complement to this elegant and fast commuter.
