The C2: a huge 2013 Guzzi California 1.4 litres is the latest project by Stefano Venier

Stefano and his client Andy Chase were so impressed by the Guzzi’s new 1400cc engine than they thought to turn the hosting California Touring, in something exciting enough to deserve it: probably the biggest café racer on earth and for sure the biggest Guzzi custom ever. “For about two months we fleshed out the shape we wanted using just the frame of the California as our starting point. Eventually we got to the point where every piece we created was mocked-up as a foam prototype so that we could see it and feel it. After we were happy with the foam pieces it took about another month to fabricate them into the final steel body work”. The bike features one-off mufflers specially built by Mass in Sicily, whilst the he engine has been completely overhauled by Venier Custom’s trusted mechanic. Other than Tarozzi rear set and clip-ons, everything on the C2 has been hand-made – from the headlight bucket (which integrates the original speedo) to the custom seat. The back of the frame has been modified and the LSL tail-light has been recessed into the back of the seat. The rear turn lights have been mounted on the frame. The front Motogadget turn lights have been mounted on the ends of the aluminum billet grip handlebars. Stefano felt there was nothing to improve on with the stock California electronics and brake system so he decided to leave them as they were. And the results are apparently amazing, since he says that this special Guzzi is just a thrill to ride. Finally, in order to give the C2 a clean yet elegant look, Stefano asked Lou Neziri to paint everything glossy black, with the only exception of the dark grey stripe on the tank, which we already know for being a Venier Customs signature. But at Venier they were such sticklers to even black out all the factory silver screws on the bottom part of the engine and transmission. Stefano is so satisfied of his work that he is planning to build the C2 as a limited series motorcycle. Beside the café racer version like this, he will also offer a GT version with a more comfortable riding position.
