1982 R100RS "Arsenica" by Anvil

Los Angeles, mid 50s: what if the great Steve McQueen’s friend, Bud Ekins, owned a BMW bike shop instead of a Triumph one? One day, down Sepulveda Avenue, Steve McQueen saw some guys jump in and out of the woods on strange bikes with high fenders and tires looking like crawlers of a tank. He pulled over and asked them if they had ever been able to climb up a steep slope covered by mud and leaves. In no time at all, they showed that nothing was impossible with those bikes! The next day Steve went to his friend Bud to buy a Triumph 500cc. According to the Anvil boyz, had Steve ever ridden Arsenica for his test, he would have been certainly excited! In their project, Anvils took a 1982 BMW R100 RS and followed their inspiration to build a desert sled ready to be used in the Mojave Desert races. They gave her a retro approach with super modern details, such as the irregular geometrical stripes on the tank, the Accossato pump on the front brake and the modern floating rear disc. The front light was removed and replaced by two tractor headlights on each crash bar. The subframe has been rebuilt shorter than stock. The new handlebar has a typical 70s shape, flat tracker style. The airbox was replaced by two cone filters and matched to an open muffler making the engine breath properly. Getting down to the real soul of the bike, they changed the stock carburettors with two Dell’Orto 36, turning the docile tourism bike into a desert beast! Like any other Anvil’s bikes, the scar of time has been deliberately saved on the rusty dented Kawasaki S3 tank, making it look like it was straight out of the dust of a desert ride.
