Suzuki GN 400 flat tracker by Ventus Garage

For many aspects, the Suzuki GN400 is a perfect donor bike for a classic custom project. It has everything you want from a decent base. It has big size single engine that sounds beautifully, it is simple in its construction and has nice lines off its frame. The biggest modification in Ventus 13th build was a full swap of the front upside down forks and spoked wheels from Aprilia. USD were obvious upgrade in the performance of the bike but getting the same size spoked wheels is the thing that Ventus loved in the look of their “13”. Rims were painted in matt grey. Spokes where chromed and to got a proper grip on the track with the pair of Dunlop K180 shoes. Front brake now has a bigger 280mm disk while the back drum brake had to be replaced with a more effective disk brake. According to the builders, that was not easy because they had to install whole braking system with hydraulic Nissin master cylinder and modify a brake lever. After fitting the triple clamps from Aprilia they mounted on it the 5 ½ headlight. Accel handlebar with Renthal grips and new master cylinder resulted in line with the flat track style, when central unit from Motogadget model Motoscope Tiny gave the final touch that Ventus Garage was looking for. A lot of work was performed on the engine that was stripped down to be glass blasted to get the awesome natural gray color of the metal. During the process the engine was completely overhauled and a brand new Mikuni carburetor with pod filter were installed. The stainless steel exhaust was built from scratch by Devils Garage based on Ventus design. The subframe was modified with the usual back loop which had to be a base for the custom built fiberglass duck tale and in the same time fits a led taillight. Ventus put lot of effort to get the frame to the perfection by sanding back all the imperfection from the factory like rough welds which were all properly covered by powder coat paint in graphite matt. At this point, the original tank was no longer appropriate for the style of the bike and a Yamaha XS400 fuel reservoir resulted to be the best solution. The Frozen Grey Metallic Matte painting is a BMW shade.
