Triumph "Rocketter" 2300 cc: Dino Romano’s Dark Beast

The Rocketter made its official debut at EICMA 2010, born from the creative genius of Dino Romano under his Drag & Racing brand. It was love at first sight: seeing it in the flesh was a striking experience that compelled me to capture it in countless shots. Since then, I have closely followed the evolution of the various interpretations Dino has expertly tailored around the mammoth Triumph Rocket III. Based on the Rocket III Roadster, the Rocketter is a "dark special" with an imposing stage presence—matching its massive weight and tractor-like torque—yet reinterpreted with a surprisingly minimalist aesthetic. The project highlights the brutal nature of the monstrous 2,300cc triple like few others: by employing direct-induction conical filters and a custom three-into-one exhaust, the original cruiser is transformed into a purebred dragster. With the exception of the exhaust, every custom component was hand-crafted in Dino’s workshop. The livery features an aggressive mix of matte black and wrinkle-finish paint, leaving almost no room for chrome: only the exhaust, the instrument bezel, and the Roadster logo break the "total black" theme. Everything else—from the fender supports to the wheels, the drag-style handlebar to the levers, and even the tank badges—is drenched in darkness. Standout technical details include the relocation of the instrument cluster to the lower right, near the radiator, while the three intake filters loom menacingly on the left side. The stock twin headlights have been replaced by a compact single projector, encased in a bespoke cowl. A brutal foundation that Dino Romano offered to clients, ready to be further tailored to their desires. 

La Rocketter fece il suo debutto ufficiale all'EICMA 2010, nata dal genio di Dino Romano, all’epoca con il marchio Drag & Racing. Fu amore a prima vista: vederla dal vivo fu un’esperienza folgorante che mi spinse a immortalarla in numerosi scatti. Da quel momento, ho seguito con passione l'evoluzione delle varie interpretazioni che Dino ha saputo cucire sulla mastodontica Triumph Rocket III. Costruita sulla base di una Rocket III Roadster, la Rocketter è una "special dark" dalla presenza scenica imponente, coerente con il suo peso e la coppia da rimorchiatore, ma reinterpretata con un look sorprendentemente minimalista. Il progetto riesce a esaltare come pochi l'anima brutale del tre cilindri da 2.300cc: grazie all'adozione di filtri conici ad aspirazione diretta e a un nuovo scarico artigianale tre-in-uno, la cruiser originale si trasforma in una dragster di pura razza. Fatta eccezione per lo scarico, ogni componente speciale è stato realizzato a mano nell'officina di Dino. La livrea gioca su un mix aggressivo di nero opaco e vernice raggrizzante, lasciando pochissimo spazio alle cromature: solo lo scarico, il bordo della strumentazione e il logo Roadster staccano dal "total black". Tutto il resto — dai supporti parafanghi ai cerchi, dal manubrio quasi dritto alle leve, fino ai loghi sul serbatoio — è immerso nell'oscurità. Particolari tecnici di rilievo includono il riposizionamento della strumentazione in basso a destra, vicino al radiatore, mentre sul lato sinistro svettano minacciosi i tre filtri d'aspirazione. Il massiccio doppio faro di serie ha lasciato il posto a un singolo proiettore più compatto, incastonato in un cupolino disegnato ad hoc. Una base brutale, che Dino Romano offriva ai clienti pronta per essere ulteriormente cucita su misura.
